Overriding the SalesOrder.tranId

I see from the documentation that the SalesOrder.tranId can be overriden with a custom number.

My first question is, do I just set the number or do I need to include the "SO" prefix?

Leading on from that, can I use a different prefix for orders that are added via SuiteFlex (as opposed to orders entered directly via the UI)?
