Credit card Re-Authorization

Has any one ever had to re-authorize a credit card through web services.  The issue is that credit card authorizations are only valid for 7-10 days.  I need to re-authorize all credit card orders before processing the orders.  I tried a sales order update with getAuth set to true but that did not work.
