Search Customers for specific stage(s)?

I searched botht eh NetSuiteWebServicesPlatformGuide as well as the NetSuiteWebServicesRecordsGuide but was unable to find an answer.  I feel like I'm missing some doc file as I have trouble finding this kind of basic information.

Here is what I'm trying to find:

How do I use webservices to search for a Leads or Prospects or Customers?  To find customer at any stage which match a specific phone number, I make this query:

            // Create and setup the phoneNumber search string
            SearchStringField phoneNumber = new SearchStringField();
            phoneNumber.@operator = SearchStringFieldOperator.contains;
            phoneNumber.operatorSpecified = true;
            phoneNumber.searchValue = strNumber;

            CustomerSearchBasic custSearchBasic = new CustomerSearchBasic();
            custSearchBasic.phone = phoneNumber;
