Search for null value in List custom field

Hi, I can't seem to find how to search records where a SelectCustomFieldRef is null.

I have a custom record that is associated to a Customer (through this SelectCustomFieldRef), I need to search via web services those custom records that have not been associated.

Does anybody know how to do this?
