Special Order Items

Hi

When creating a sales order on a special order item, it will create a PO automatically.

Is it possible to write a suite script triggered on PO creation, that reads a custom field from the sales order and populates the same cutom field on a PO?

Any tips what function I should use to read the newly created SO?
