how to get selected value from list type field in server script?

Hi folks,

I created a custom field named 'Status' as the type list/record.
I am able to get internalid of the selected item by calling nlapiGetFieldValue('custrecordstatus'), but what we are really interested in is the value of the selected item.

Can you help me out how to achieve that in server script?
