Search open invoices

I am searching for all open sales invoices.

However the below code fragment returns no record.

var filters = new Array();
filters[0] = new nlobjSearchFilter('status', null, 'is', 'open');    
return nlapiSearchRecord('invoice', null, filters, null);

Am I missing something?

Any hint is more than welcome.
