Change Role to Developer

I have logged into my free developer account for the first time.  I am listed as a customer for the fictitious company Wolfe Electronics.  I am supposed to be able to change my role to developer, but there is no arrow in the upper right corner of my screen to allow me to do this.  How can I change my role to developer so I can test some scripts?
