Column break on Text Area/Long Text

This is so frustrating... I've now spent probably an hour trying - without success - to add a line break (column break) after a Text Area field.

My sales order form has a custom tab called Logistics, under this I have another custom tab called Notes. In this tab I have three Text Area fields and one Long Text field. I'd like to stack them so there's only one text area per column.

I've tried several combinations of using "column break", "space before", and display width/height on the boxes but nothing is working.

Is it even possible?
