Setting Tax Schedules Using smbXML

I am using smbXML to import over 1000 items to my items list.  So far my tests seem to work as I would like them to, however the only data field I am unable to set is the Tax Schedule.  Is it possible to set this?  If not, is there a way to set the default Tax Schedule or will I need to indiviudally set this value for each item after import?
