Why has SuiteTalk become so slow?

Why has SuiteTalk become so slow during the last couple of month?

For my company I implemented a simple upload procedure which uploads between 500 and 3000 POItems every night. In the beginning (December 2007) it took max. 10 minutes to do that. Now it takes at least 20 minutes. That is ok for uploading PO's, but one time each month all InventoryItems (~5000) have to be updated and that takes somewhat between 12 and 16 hours. In the times of ADSL that is kind of ridiculous from my point of view.

Any explanations or suggestions?
