Suite Script to copy custom field

I'm trying to figure out how to copy the results of a custom field into another field.

For example, I'd like to create a custom field on my expense report form that has a filtered list of only a few customers based on some keywords in the customer name. 

However that field won't work with the intercompany billing, so I'd like to have the selection in the custom field copy itself into the customer field for the IC time and expenses.

It seems like a suitescript problem, but I'm not experienced with Java to do it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?:D
