-System- user not triggering user event script from scheduled context

We have a scheduled script which set a custom field which eventually triggers a user event script deployed on an invoice.

In one environment, it does not work as expected.

Our scheduled script forces the user to be "System". When System is the user, the user event will not fire.

But if the user is someone else, it does fire the user event script.

Any advice on this issue?
