This notice is intended for customers who have a Commerce web store.
What Is Changing?
System email templates for web store emails were introduced in NetSuite 2018.2. Starting with the 2019.2 release, the use of system email templates will be mandatoryand the following legacy email template options will no longer be available:
- Customized Text Groups for Email (Setup > SuiteCommerce Advanced/ Site Builder > Customize Text > Email tab)
- Web Store Email Templates (Documents > Templates > Web Store Email Templates)
As part of the 2019.2 upgrade, if you have legacy template options selected on the Email tab of the Website Setup record, custom system email templates will be automatically created from your selections. Your existing legacy email templates will be removed and replaced with the newly created system email templates.Recommended ActionsTo avoid the possibility that the automatically created templates do not work as you expect, you should complete the following actions prior to the 2019.2 upgrade:
- Create your own system email templates. You can create system email templates in the following ways:

- Go to Setup > SuiteCommerce Advanced/ Site Builder > Customize Text.
- Click Customize next to the website text group you want to modify.
- Click the Email subtab.
- Click the Actions list and then click Create copy in System Email Templates.
- On the Create System Email Templates from Customize Text Group page, select the Web Sitefor which you want to create the system email templates.
- Click Continue.
System email templates are created based on the customized text groups. This process may take a few minutes. Once the process is complete, the system email templates will be available at Setup > Company > Email > System Email Templates.
| - Go to Documents > Templates > Web Store Email Templates.
- Click Edit next to the web store email template whose content you want to use in the new system email template.
- Click the Actions list and then click Create copy in System Email Templates.
- On the Create System Email Templates from Web Store Email Template page, select the:
- Language of the system email template you want to create.
- Web Site for which you want to create the system email templates.
- Email Type of the system email template you want to create.
- If you want to:
- Create a new system email template, select –New– in the System Email Template list.
- Add a language version to an existing system email template, select the existing system email template in the System Email Template list.
- Click Continue.
A new system email template is created from the web store email template. The system email template is available at Setup > Company > Email > System Email Templates.

- Create a custom template from scratch.
- Modify a copy of a default template.
- Use the conversion tool to convert a legacy email template to a system email template and then modify it as required.
- On the Email subtab of the Website Setup record:
- Select a system email template for each web store email type.
- Preview the templates to make sure they are working as expected.
- Save the Website Setup record to begin using the selected system email templates in your web store.
