HTML in column labels of Search do not display correctly when search is added to a dashboard

I have a saved search that uses HTML to add line breaks and change font colors to column custom labels, such as: <span style="color:green">Lot Status<br>(Open Lot<br>Record)</span>.

When the search is open in its own page the column formatting displays perfectly.  However, when the search is added to a portlet on a dashboard, the literal HTML string displays.  Is the just a limitation that I cannot use HTML in searches that used as dashboard reports?
