NetSuite Admin Tip | Privileges of Owners of Customization Record Type Definitions

edited May 1, 2024 11:24PM in NetSuite Admin Corner

The user that has been set as the Owner of Customization Record Type such as Custom Fields, Custom Records, Workflows, etc. has unrestricted access to those record types and their instances regardless of the roles and permissions set for that user.

Novice administrators mistake this behavior as a defect when testing permissions since the Owner field defaults to the current user creating the customization record.

Some customization record types allow having the Owner field set as blank. So, keep this in mind when testing.
