We are using SuiteCommerce Standard.
We're trying to use a different Unit of Measure than the Primary Sales Unit in our SuiteCommerce items. There seems to be no way to do this - SuiteCommerce only uses the primary sale unit and no other can be set for SuiteCommerce.
But we can't sell to our customers in that unit because it would make ordering difficult for them. Before starting to create a web site for this, they would just contact us by email or phone and we'd hash out a quote for them that way.
We also can't change all our primary sales units to the pallet-based units that would make sense to customers ordering by the Full Truck Load online, because that would mess up all our other processes and reporting and throw off the predicted prices and costs, etc., which are based on 1000 times the base unit.
To get around this problem, we tried wrapping the items being sold, in a Kit or Package, which lets you set Unit of Measure for the member items, or at least keeps them in base units. But when we do that, the items ordered do not show up on the resulting Sales Order when they finish checking out their shopping cart, just the Kit shows up, even when the Kit's DISPLAY COMPONENTS ON TRANSACTIONS checkbox is ticked (it makes no difference at all in the resulting Sales Order or the generated PDF).
So we thought we'd try putting the item for sale into an Item Group instead, since that explodes its member items out onto individual lines when viewing the sales order in the NetSuite UI. But it is not possible to make Item Groups available in the Web store:
I tried making the Display in Website checkbox and the Web Store subtab show up on Item Group forms, but this has no effect, as they are already set to show up.
I tried nlapiSetFieldValue on the Item Group edit page, but this seemed to have no effect.
I tried setting the Display in Web Site checkbox {isonline} via nlapiSubmitField but that results in the Spanish Inquisition error "Unexpected Error" (Monty Python reference).
I tried inline editing that field in an item search results page, but despite other fields being inline editable, that one is not.
I tried nlapiLoadRecord, then on the returned nlobjRecord, calling setFieldValue("isonline", "T"), and then nlapiSubmitRecord on the nobjRecord. This also does nothing to the Display in Website field. It's still "F" / "No".
So I think we're stuck with trying to figure out how to get the Kit to display its member items in the Sales Order PDF.
How do we do that?
