SuitePeople U.S. Payroll: Montana MW-4 Filing Status Changes Effective January 1, 2024

This notice is intended for customers who are using SuitePeople U.S. Payroll and you withhold Montana tax.

Due to legislative changes related to Montana income tax, the Montana Department of Revenue has issued revised withholding tax tables. Going forward, the agency will use filing status to determine what table to use for withholding tax purposes. Starting January 1, 2024, the filing status should align with the same filing status used in Federal Form W-4 and will be collected on the revised Montana Form MW-4. The Department of Revenue recommends that employers collect a new Form MW-4 from employees to ensure accurate withholding for the state of Montana.
