NSC | SuiteQL: Using Outer Join to Get the Assigned Employee’s Full Name in the Task Table

Here is a sample query that retrieves the task records columns from the task table and sources the employee’s full name by concatenating the firstname and lastname fields from the employee table using outer join to display the assigned employee’s full name instead of their internal ID.

SELECT
        task.title, 
        employee.firstname ||' '||employee.lastname as fullname,
        task.priority, 
        task.status,
        task.startdate ,
        task.duedate 
FROM    task
FULL OUTER JOIN    employee ON task.owner = employee.id;
