NetSuite Admin Tip | Read-Only Custom Fields

edited Jun 5, 2025 2:59PM in NetSuite Admin Corner

Imagine you need to display information on a form without allowing users to edit it. A read-only field can be used to show data sourced from another record, ensuring that the latest information is always retrieved when the page loads. This prevents unintended changes while keeping important details visible and up to date.

For example, you want users to see a customer’s credit limit on an invoice without allowing them to change it.

In this case, you can create a custom read-only field that sources data from the customer record. Every time the invoice page loads, the field automatically pulls in the latest credit limit. Since the field is read-only, users can view the information but can’t modify it, ensuring accuracy while keeping the data easily accessible.
