New To NetSuite | Custom Field Types: Rich Text vs. Inline HTML
In NetSuite, both Rich Text and Inline HTML custom fields are used to display formatted content, but they serve different purposes and behave differently in terms of user input and system control.
A Rich Text field is editable and designed for user-entered content with formatting options like bold, italic, lists, and embedded links. It’s ideal for adding comments, descriptions, or instructions with rich formatting.
By contrast, an Inline HTML field is read-only and typically used to display system-generated or static HTML content, such as custom messages, layout elements, embedded styles, or scripts. It is commonly used by developers or admins to enhance the visual layout or add logic-based content to forms.
