Matrix Item vs CSV Import / Mass Update
I can see that Matrix Items are useful for creating all permutations of a base item with a set of characteristics (color, size, etc.) but I'm curious what the advantages are beyond creation.
If (for example) I externally generated the list of "all permutations" and maybe a couple of custom fields to "relate" items to a base item and then loaded those items via csv input would that accomplish the same thing as using Matrix Items. I know you can also make "global" changes to Matrix Items (via the base number) but seems like I could do that with Mass Update.
