Web Site Redirects

Three questions...

1) Why do newly added Web site redirects not work immediately?  For example I added about 50 redirects this past Friday and most of them still do not work come Monday.

2) Is there a limit to how many redirects I can create?  Is approximately 3000 redirects OK?

3) Can I redirect from urls that use get variables.  I added a few of these type of urls this past Thursday and none of them work yet (while other urls I added Thursday without get variables do work).  For example a url like this /company.php?screen=contact_us
