Lead Source - need to "break" sourcing from Lead/Prospect/Customer to Opportunity

edited Dec 3, 2019 3:03PM in General 2 comments

We run Marketing Automation, so our list of Lead Sources  is based on our Campaigns.

We want our Sales teams to enter a Lead Source for Leads/Prospects/Customers *and also* for Opportunities they create under those L/P/C records.

Problem:  When you select a Lead Source for an L/P/C record, and you then create an Opportunity under that L/P/C, the Lead Source on the Opportunity *defaults* to the Lead Source entered on the L/P/C record.

We do not want this because the Lead Source for the relationship with the L/P/C  (e.g., "Cold Call") may not be the same Lead Source for the Opportunity (e.g., "Microsoft Server 2008 Seminar Series").  If Lead Source defaults in, the user will likely forget to change it on the Opportunity.

Howdy, Stranger!
