Serialized Inventory Item on Special Order Still Allocated

I'm fairly sure this scenario has must have happened since the 2014.2 updated.  We have a serialized inventory item that we have 17 in stock.  However, we also have about 20 Sales Orders where we have that item on backorder because it is a special order (PO has already been created for the Special Order).  We now want to sell one of the items that we have in stock, but when we create a new Sales Order, it says all the items on allocated to the Special Order Sales Orders!  I've even tried to go into Reallocate Items, but all
