Set different package types depending on item quantity?

I have an item that we sell in multiple quantities.  The type of package we use to ship the item changes depending on the quantity ordered.  The problem I've come across is that because NetSuite only lets me set one default package type for the item, it adds unnecessary time to creating quotes for the item because the quote will not change the package type depending on the quantity included and gives an inaccurate shipping cost.

For example, the default package for the item is "Package A" which holds 100 units (it's the most commonly sold quantity).  When someone requests a quote for 50 units (which uses "Package B"), I can't just make a quote because NetSuite will only use the default "Package A" type and calculate a shipping cost that is too high.  Instead, I have to go through the process of creating a sales order, then moving on to the fulfillment stage to switch the package type to "Package B" and get an accurate shipping cost which is added to the quote, then deleting
