Don't Not Display in Website doesn't take item off of Website

It used to be that checking the "Do Not Display in Website" box took off the items, but lately we've noticed that the items are still being displayed - and should someone try to buy it, the site tells them the item is not available.

So, is there one more step we should be doing to get items "off" the site?
