login page customizable?

Our company is a wholesale distributor, so we want our whole site password protected so only registered dealers can access our product listing, but we want to be able to provide some info about the company on the login page, as well as links to download a dealer application (or better yet, fill out an online lead form).

But apparently the option to password protect the entire site results in any hosted pages getting redirected to the login page until after login.

What I need to do is either customize the login page or have a single hosted page as an unprotected landing page, from which i can link to the login page.
