"Last Name" field not required at customer registration
Does anyone else run into problems with this? When customers register on our site, they last name field is not mandatory. So, about 1 in 10 customers don't fill it in, so the only name we get with the order and on the shipping address is something like "Christopher". This leads to all sorts of issues down the road, from not being able locate customer accounts when they call, to FedEx shipping delays on international shipments due to there not being a last name, etc.
It seems very basic that the last name field should be required during customer registration.
Is there ANY WAY to update our account settings so this field is required?
