Improper Use of Accounts

Hi all,

Just wanting to get some feedback here - a company I've started working for has developed an interesting practice in NetSuite. Instead of using just one or a few COGS and Income accounts, they have set up THOUSANDS!

We have about 50,000 products, from about 20 vendors. Our vendors use categories to classify their products (eg: if one of our vendors was Apple, they would be Laptops, Desktops, iPods, Software, etc). The practice is that COGS and Income accounts are created for all these categories. So there will be an Income accounts called 'Apple : Laptops', 'Apple : Desktops', etc...and the same for COGS.
