Why are specific tax codes tied to inventory items
I am confused as to how/why you would attach a unique tax schedule to an inventory item. Since sales taxes are based on where the product is shipped to tie it to one state's tax scedule code would not be logical to me. In order for this to work you would need to add multiple tax schedules to each item record (one for each state that you have Nexus in -- ex. MA Taxable, CA Taxable, TX Taxable) and let the system calculate tax based on the item and ship to address. In past systems I have designated items as
