Item field smart-fill no longer works

Our company has been using NetSuite live since early December. I have a custom Accounting role. For the last 3 days (ish), when I try to type anything into the Item field on a Cash Sale or Invoice, the first letter typed immediately fills the field with the first item that matches. At that point no other text, or backspaces can be entered. I have to use the down arrow and select an item from the list. There is no smart fill, the way there used to be.

This happens on multiple users with that role, both Firefox and IE7 browsers, but does not happen when I log in as Administrator or A/R Clerk.
