Able to filter sort items on web site

i am looking to setup dropdown filters on my web site item list page, where user can select a value from dropdown, based on value selected items will be sorted.
i know publish saved search and publish form, but i just wnat to have 2 dropdowns on top of layout and by selected value it shoudl filter dynamically.
Please help me out
