How to prevent parent items from appearing on transactions
We have structured our inventory hierarchically so reports are easier to read.
For example:
Collar
Collar : Dog Collar
Collar : Dog Collar : Leather
Collar : Dog Collar : Gold Plated
Collar : Cat Collar :
Collar : Cat Collar : Diamond Studded
Collar : Cat Collar : Rubber
You get the idea.
Given the above example we would not want the parent items to appear in transactions. For example, if entering a SO I would not want to see 'Collar' in the drop down list or 'Collar : Dog Collar'
in the past we would accomplish this by removing a Sales Income Account from these items. This had the benefit of removing these items from transaction lists.
