Charging Sales Tax for Consumables
We've just begun selling items to restaurants. Most of the items that we are selling to them are tax exempt because the restaurant is reselling the items to their customer. However, when we sell them consumables like straws and napkins we are required to charge sales tax.
How would we go about setting this up where IF the item is for RESALE then don't charge tax but IF it's not for resale, charge tax.
We do business in five states (NC, SC, VA, WV, and TN).
Thanks!
