Is there a workaround if we don't want to share data from other subsidiaries to custom role?

I'm assuming this Enhancement 161504 has still not been completed? I am looking at wanting to move 200+ employees to a new subsidiary. Has anyone else come up with a workaround? Mass Update maybe? Something?
