If the customer does not have a Default Ship To address then it will be blank. Or do you mean after you choose customer and it defaults? Maybe a WorkFlow?

Just a guess. I have never used a saved search in a work flow but I understand this can be done. I have created saved searches such as listing all IFs then grouping by SO then using maximum of date to get last date.

I'm at the same place. Problem seems to be with BeforeLoad but why is it still trying Before Load when Trigger is After Submit or Before Submit?
