@JohnCirocco - thanks for leaving that ".id" tip. That did the trick for my workflow. Selecting Record (Join Field)/Field from the dropdown gave me the error (must be a bug in the UI?), creating a formula returned the same result, but then adding the .id worked. Thanks!
