Help with saved search formula.

I would like to create a formula within a saved search email to notify a sales rep when an order is placed for one of their accounts.

I wasn't able to find a subtotal field to merge, so I created the following formula:

$<%={netamountnotax} - {shippingamount}%>

However, in cases where there is no shipping charges or tax on the order, the formula returns a blank result.

Any help would be appreciated!
