Calculated Field Based on Another Field

I am trying to create a custom field that shows the total of hardware items on a sales order. I have a check box on the item that shows if an item is a hardware item or a not and I thought I could use that to show the total sales of hardware items on a sales order but since I am new to calculated fields I am stuck.  Can anyone help me show the total  amount on a sales order for only items with the check box checked?
