Looking up Record Types

Is there a way to identify a record type if I know the internal ID for a record? I created a Bill Credit via the UI and was trying to see if I had access to it via WebServices to that record. I'm not sure what NetSuite calls them since some record names are inconsistent (entering a "Bill" into the UI is actually a "vendorBill" record, similar but still not exact) so I have tried some logical guesses but haven't nailed it. I strongly suspect that it's an unsupported record type but I don't know conclusively unless I know what
