SSL Cert issue

We're trying to CURL an external secure site within a RESTlet, but we're coming up against an error we can't explain.

nlapiRequestURL('http://www.my-wardrobe.com') works

nlapiRequestURL('https://www.my-wardrobe.com') fails with the error :
SSS_INVALID_HOST_CERT: An untrusted, unsupported, or invalid certificate was found for this host.

But, the SSL certificate is fine - logging in via a browser shows no security alert issues at all. Is there any way at all to see what NS doesn't like abut our cert?

Any ideas?
