Getting billcountry field value on SS2 Client Script results to null

Hello NetSuite Gurus,

I'm trying to get the 'billcountry' field value in SS 2.0 but I get null, I'm using this call:

currentRecord.getValue({fieldId:'billcountry'})

in SS 1.0 I was able to get the value with nlapiGetFieldValue('billcountry') , what is the equivalent call in SS 2.0?
