SCIS require customer

Does anyone know if it is possible to require a customer on SCIS? I have a membership item and need to be able to require a customer (not my generic/default) be attached (any other items don't need to require a customer attached).

Also, does anyone know how to limit/hide the the Other Payment from a specific role? Other Payment at least for me includes Gift Card or Credit from Account. None of these should be seen by my clerks.

Any assistance would be incredibly useful.
