Can you block certain Inventory items to a group?

We have sales reps in different areas and some products are not available there. Can an item be blocked to certain sls reps? I have a custom field on the item to group it out and I have a custom field to group out employee/sales rep.

Can a script or workflow be written...If employee X enters SO block Item X from being visible?
