Generic Resources-Resource Type

We leverage a wide variety of equipment/vehicles/marketing items and vendors for Resource Allocation. I can create new Resource Types in the Generic Resources, but am not able to choose them in the Resource Allocation Grid. Any ideas? I have attached two screenshots. I was hoping to use them in the Allocation filters
