Modeling profitability
We have a simple business model. We do not maintain inventory and all our items are special ordered.
Our sales orders have merchandise items we sell as well as service by service providers who say deliver and install the items. The delivery and install component is handled by several providers depending on the location. The line item for delivery and install is generic and not linked to a specific service providers.
Our purchase orders capture the cost of the items we buy. The vendor bills and payment take care of the merchandise item cost to us.
The delivery and install service providers send us a bill which is entered and paid through the vendor bill. However, this bill is not linked to sales orders.
