How to record Use Tax for Dropship Orders using Advanced taxes?

edited Jun 2, 2025 2:32PM in Ask A Guru 2 comments

Question from our accounting team:

"Sales tax is triggered in Netsuite by the ship to, Delivery to, or if picked up from our warehouse—the tax rate at our warehouse. This is why I’m a pain about customer pickup and updating the ship to address to ( current address ). Customers aren’t always aware of this.. Like bill to address is OH, but delivery is to WV. They may question WV sales tax, but law is you charge where the product goes, not where the corporate office is.

We only charge sales tax into states that we do enough sales volume that we’re required to charge tax. Every state is a pain so we’re only doing the ones we’re required to do.
