How to create saved search that is search based?

I am trying to create an issue save search that is search based.

The goal is for our team to have a tailored fit saved search where we only have the fields we commonly populate.

I cannot seem to find any resources for this (maybe I'm looking at the wrong books or I don't know the right term for it).

I have failed attempts - the presentation view is always the result page.

What I need is a save search where it allows the user to input params in the field to initialize their own searches to the hand picked fields.
