Is it Better to Reclass Balances or To Merge Accounts Instead?

Hi, Gurus!

I have a situation where an account balance needs to move from 6xxx to 8xxx.

And I will need to move the last year's balance for each period.

I have 2 options:

Merge 6xxx into 8xxx, or

Reclass 6xxx balances for each historic period for last year to 8xxx.


Which would be a better practice here?

Any cons of the reclass option?
